When a car won't start, guessing is expensive. A new key, a new ignition or a new module won't help if the fault is somewhere else. Our diagnostics read the car's security systems and tell you exactly what's wrong before anything is replaced.
What we check
- Keys: is the chip being read, is the remote working, is the key still programmed?
- Immobiliser: does the car recognise the key? Are there stored fault codes?
- Ignition, EIS and ESL: switch, electronic ignition and steering lock faults
- Body and engine modules: the units that manage the key and starting, such as the BCM and the ECU

Typical problems we diagnose
- "Key not detected" or "key not recognised" messages
- Immobiliser or key light flashing on the dash
- Car cranks but won't fire, or starts and cuts out
- Remote stopped locking the doors
- Faults that come and go
Sometimes the fault is deep in the car's electronics. On a 2018 Ford Transit, for example, diagnostics led us to a faulty body control module (BCM), which we replaced and programmed on site.
What happens next
Once we know the fault, we tell you what it is and what the repair costs. In most cases we can fix it at the same visit: a new or reprogrammed key, an ignition repair, an EIS or ESL repair, or a module programmed to the car.
