What we fix, where you're parked

A replacement car key doesn't have to mean a tow truck, a trip to the main dealer and days without the car. We're a mobile car locksmith: we come to your home, your work or wherever the car is parked and make the new key there. The price is agreed before we set off, so there are no surprises when we arrive.

Which replacement do you need?

  • You still have a key and want another one. That's a spare car key, from £120. We cut the blade and programme the new key to the car while you wait.
  • Every key is lost. That's an all keys lost job, from £150. We make a new key from scratch, no old key needed, and delete the lost ones from the car so they can't start it.
  • The key is broken, cracked or the remote has stopped working. Often the electronics can go into a new key shell; sometimes a complete new key is the better option. Tell us what's wrong and we'll say which is cheaper.

Not sure which one you need? Send us a photo of the key and the registration number on WhatsApp.

How we make a replacement key

  1. You send the registration number. From it we know the make, model and year and the type of key the car uses, so we bring the right blank.
  2. We agree the price before we set off.
  3. We cut the blade at the car, matched to your locks, without taking the locks apart.
  4. We programme the key to the car's immobiliser, so it starts the engine and the remote buttons work.
  5. We test everything with you there: doors, boot, remote and starting.

A spare key is usually done in about an hour. All keys lost jobs can take longer on cars that keep their security data in a module that has to be read first, but it's still done at the car, usually the same day.

Keyless, smart, flip and remote keys

We make and programme most types of key: traditional keys with a transponder chip, flip keys, remote keys and keyless entry fobs with push-button start. Recent jobs include BMW, Mercedes, Toyota, Ford and Seat. Send us the registration number and we'll confirm we can do your car before we come out.

What to have ready

Because a key starts the car, we check that it's yours before we make one:

  • The V5C logbook, or lease or finance documents, in your name
  • Photo ID with the same name (driving licence or passport)
  • The registration number

If the documents are locked inside the car, tell us. We can open the car first.

Locksmith or dealer?

A main dealer usually needs the car brought to them, may order the key from the factory and can take days. We come to the car, make the key in the same visit and agree the price first. Usually that works out cheaper, too: there's no towing and no waiting for parts.

Frequently asked questions

How much does a replacement car key cost?

A spare key, cut and programmed at your car, starts from £120. A new key when every key is lost starts from £150. The final price depends on the make, model and year of the car and on the type of key: a simple flip key costs less than a keyless smart key. Send us the registration number and we'll give you the full price before we set off.

Do I need the old key?

No. If you still have one, a spare is quicker and cheaper. If every key is gone, we make a new one from scratch and delete the lost keys from the car.

Can you replace keyless and smart keys?

Yes, for most makes, including keyless entry and push-button start fobs. We'll confirm we can do your car from the registration number before we come out.

How long does a replacement key take?

A spare key is usually done in about an hour at the car. When all keys are lost, some cars need security data read from a module first, which takes longer, but it's normally still finished the same day.

Do you come to me?

Yes. We're mobile and work from a fully equipped van, so the key is made at your home, your work or wherever the car is parked, across London and Surrey.

Can you make the key cheaper than the dealer?

Usually, yes. There's no towing to a dealer and no waiting days for a key to be ordered: we come to the car and agree the price with you before we set off.
